François Bovis (1864-1914) was born in Leven, but developed his violin making career in Nice. From 1874-1881, Bovis studied with Nicola Bianchi and inherited his business. The outer appearance of his instruments is quite unique. The varnishes are a reddish color, and the quality is good. He was in charge of taking care of the instruments of the Monte Carlo Orchestra.
