Carlo Guiseppe Testore, c. 1660-1716

The most superb violin maker in the whole family, a student of Giovanni Grancino (1637-1709) .The biggest difference between the two was that the corner of Caro's violin was larger and the sound hole was not as special as the others; in terms of the scroll part, comparing with Giovanni Grancino’s perfect arc, Carlo’s work was inclined slightly prominent. This was the main unique features in Testore’s family.

The paint color from Carlo’s works just like the works from his teacher, Giovanni. Grancino; for example, from deep orange-brown to light yellow, and the sound quality of his works were very similar as Giovanni Grancino.
