Pietro Sgarabotto (1903-1990), son of Gaetano, was born in Milan. He studied violin and viola in his youth, and after he moved with his father to Parma, began to devote himself to violinmaking.
Pietro’s violin is full of energy and he also inherited the extraordinary skills from his father. His incessant pursuits for aesthetic accomplishments make him stylistically different from the elegancy expressed by his contemporaries such as Ferdinando Garimberti and Giuseppe Ornati. From 1959 to 1973, Pietro was a well-known teacher in the International Violinmaking School “Antonio Stradivari”in Cremona, and thus had profound influences on contemporary Cremonese makers.
