Girolamo Amati was the son of Andrea Amati. Girolamo and his brother Antonio succeded to his father’s workshop in 1570s, and his works were extremely popular, which spreaded the fame of Amati family through all Europe. After Antonio left the workshop in 1588, Girolamo took over it alone up to his death in 1630.
