本資料庫收藏: Violin (c. 1588)
The second generation of the Amati family, Antonio and Girolamo Amati were extremely successful. From 1580 to 1630, violins made by the Amati brothers not only maintained their traditional feature and dolce timbre, but also demonstrated elegant artistry, which was highly-praised and heartedly beloved by musicians. Therefore, the Amati family was soon well-known throughout Europe, allowing them to broaden their violin market and increase their influence on later luthiers.
As a son of Andrea Amati, Girolamo (c. 1550-1630) and his elder brother Antonio inherited their father’s business around 1570. Violins made by the two brothers were highly praised, and also earned the Amati family an excellent reputation throughout Europe. In 1588, Antonio left the workshop, leaving the atelier to Girolamo until his death in 1630.
