Andrea Amati, c. 1505-1577

本資料庫收藏: Violin (c. 1570)

Andrea Amati (c. 1505-1577) was the first violin maker of the Amatis. Though both the dates of his birth and death were unclear, according to more reliable literatures, Andrea Amati was born around 1505. He became a violin maker no later than 1525, and founded his own workshop in 1539. The workshop of the Amati family foretold a splendid era in the history of violin making. Andrea Amati was well-known for violin making in the mid-sixteenth century. After he passed away, the workshop was succeeded by his sons Antonio Amati (c. 1540-1607) and Girolamo Amati (c. 1550-1630) who were determined to honor their father and eternize their family emblem.
