Being the son of Giovanni Cavani (1851-1936), Natale began his career under his father’s guidance after he graduated from music school. Natale also worked for Luigi Mozzani. Besides the guitars he made, his works combined a great variety and quantity, to give an example, Natale had made for more than 200 cellos.
His violin style had been influenced by Antonio Stradivari, and the varnish were often red or yellowish orange, and sometimes golden. Unlike other luthiers in the region of Emilia, Natale did not varnish the fingerboard, and he seldom used the trade mark on his works. His works can mostly be recognized now by his signature on the label, and the best works of Natale were dated from 1945 to 1968.
